Wembury Marine Conservation Area Group-

The next time you visit Wembury Beach, look out for the CoastSnap camera mount and sign. By placing your smartphone in the camera mount, taking a photo and sharing it with them you can help create valuable insights to a changing coastal environment.
With enough photos taken across varying tidal stages, Plymouth Coastal Laboratory can link beach erosion/accretion events to weather conditions, seasonal fluctuations and extreme storm events.
Your images will help communities, organisations and local authorities to determine management practices for our valuable beach environments.
And while you’ve got your camera, why not take pictures of the local plants and ani-mals? If you then put them on iNaturalist and they were taken inside the Wembury Marine Conservation Area they will automatically go into a collection enabling anyone to see what lives here.
On the 18th of January 2024, 7.30 pm at the Knighton Room, Wembury Village Hall, Joseff Saunders, Coastal Process Scientist at Plymouth Coastal Observatory, will talk about CoastSnap and John Hepburn, Secretary of the Wembury MCA Advisory Group will talk about iNaturalist and other ways citizen scientists can better understand what’s going on in the MCA and protect our marine environment.
