We are now fully immersed in our Autumn works with the team undertaking the annual tree inspections. We ensure to the best of our ability that all the trees along paths, roads and boundaries are safe and healthy and will only do work to trees if they are dead, dying or dangerous. So if you see Ranger Joel (a fully qualified tree inspector) looking up and around the trees on National Trust land you now know that he is completing the tree inspections.

It has been a very busy summer season for us with all this hot glorious sunshine. Butterflies have also had a great year with the silver studded blue being in record numbers and their colonies expanding throughout the area monitored at Bolt Head, near Salcombe.

With all the warm dry weather we have had it has been great to get out and enjoy the coast and beaches. Unfortunately we have seen some antisocial behaviour occurring particularly at Wembury beach and Wembury Point with fires being lit, using wood broken away from fences or nearby trees and on a few recent occasion lots of beer bottles had been smashed up around the fire site and down onto the beach. With all the dry vegetation it is vital that fires are not lit anywhere as these can easily spread
and become out of control quickly in the current conditions.

The summer is here and the sun is shining and our team is busy cutting paths and car parks. We have to cut the paths at least 3 times a year to ensure that access is as easy as possible. If you do see our team out cutting please ensure they have seen you before passing and a wave of hello and a smile is always appreciated.

The South Devon team have an exciting and busy year as we are hosting the South West Outdoor Festival (SWOF) on the 5-7 October at East Soar near Salcombe. SWOF is a unique weekend-long festival of outdoor activity, entertainment and inspiration. It attracts campers and day visitors from across the country, who come to enjoy new adventures, explore new trails and hear new tales.
