As October creeps in we are well into our autumn and winter work focusing around scrub cutting, woodland works and
footpath maintenance. In October we will be having remote flail cutting works at Wembury Point for continued successful
management of this SSSI site.Â

I can’t believe that August has gone by and we are already into September, it only feels like yesterday I was writing the
update for the August parish newsletter. This month we are finishing our path cutting schedule and we start building up to

On Sunday the 5th June, with lovely weather, we saw over 100 people come along to our Open Farm Sunday event at Scobbiscombe farm Kingston. The families enjoyed seeing all the farm animals, tractors and enjoyed making mini rafts and testing them out to see if they floated on the pond. Visitors then had the opportunity to do some pond dipping to explore the world living in the water.

At last we are seeing some beautiful sunshine, which has also meant that the grass and vegetation has started growing in abundance and our Ranger teams are out cutting the miles of footpaths and coast path around the South Devon estate. It takes our team about 5 weeks to get around the whole network of paths but please do contact us if you walk a path on National trust land in South Devon that needs cutting.

When will we be getting some dryer weather? The wet weather is really affecting our paths and our work now. The recent Storm Imogen brought down trees in Noss Mayo and Wembury woods which the team have been out clearing up. The stormy weather also brings in a lot more seaborne rubbish which we have to dispose costing the Trust £1000’s. So thank you to any of
our volunteers across our beaches that help us out with collecting the rubbish..

Despite it being a mild winter, the December storms have washed up large amounts of rubbish onto our beaches. We would like to thank all the volunteers for their effort and time in helping keep these beaches clean. The removal and appropriate disposal of litter in these quantities costs the Trust £1000’s which is money that could be spent better elsewhere.
